  1. You just have this knack of blowing me away with every photograph I see of yours (which I one reason I drove all the way to see your exhibition in Penrith in Feb)…These are stunning and I bet they look so good blown up big in frames. Bravo Helen!

    • Thank you James, I’m always grateful for your friendship and support. I got some lovely soft light at dusk on Friday :)

      • I hate harsh summer afternoon light, and you have picked up the evening light so well .I have hardly had my camera out for the past few weeks – I have an eye injury – my grandson whacked me in the eye (he is 6 and didn’t know what he was doing) but I am effectively blind in my right eye – I have to see the specialist in a couple of weeks but the GP says I may be blind in it. I can shoot (more or less) from my left eye – try it and see what I mean- but I find processing them almost impossible with one eye, I just can’t tell if the image is in focus – so I am posting my old shots until I get it better :-(

        • Oh no, I knew you had hurt your eye but didn’t know it was badly injured. I am a left eye focuser, I have perfect vision in my left eye, but poor focus in my right which affects my DOF perception. I hope it heals soon. Sending you good vibes :)

          • Thank you :-) …I was told by the GP it would heal up, but another doctor say the optic nerve may be damaged..anyway I am seeing the specialist in a couple of weeks so will know for sure then…my friend has a glass eye and he says you do adjust but it takes time…We’ll get together soon for a chat and a walk…I am a bit busy for the next couple of weeks but probably late August,,will give you a shout later on and arrange something…:-)

I would love to know what you thought of this article...

A few weeks ago a group of friends hiked up Great Mell Fell and Little Mell Fell, where I shot this Bog Cotton. They are two of the smallest fells in the Lake District, but from the summit of LMF you have this incredible vista of the outer lying mountains. Because of the short 40mins climb required, I'm going to pop back late summer for a sunset shot. #VSCOcam #lakedistrict #blackandwhitephotography #bogcotton #recce I've always had a very healthy obsession with stationery, when I started painting that progressed to art supplies. I'm just enjoying my new Neocolor II oil pastels before I dive in.. #VSCOcam #neocolorII #oilpastels #doitfortheprocess #calledtobecreative All of the images I've shot on my iPhone this week have been shades of orange, peach or apricot, I think my subconscious wants me to paint with this colour and I must obey. #VSCOcam #colourcrush #calledtobecreative #doitfortheprocess #apricots I spend the best part of yesterday morning in this brilliant second hand book store in Alnwick, thumbing through Penguin modern classics and looking at the beautiful illustrations on the covers of poetry & children's books from the 70's which had a lovely folky feel to them. I bought an Art history book and a Albert Camus paperback. #barterbooks #alnwick #bookstore Stopped by the Pick your own Farm shop on my way home yesterday afternoon. My kitchen is full of the sweet fragrance of early summerπŸ“πŸ“πŸ“. #VSCOcam #strawberries #farmshop #summervibes Home on the Northumberland coast this weekend, visiting the Alnmouth Art Festival. Met some fantastic artists & photographers today. Dear North Sea - I miss you πŸ’™ #VSCOcam #Northumberland #AlnmouthArt
