Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known – Oscar Wilde
I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don’t want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes.
I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with the windows open and wear pink shoes and stay up all night laughing and paint my walls the exact colour of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets and throw parties and eat ripe tomatoes and read books so good they make me jump up and down, and I want my everyday to make God belly laugh, glad that he gave life to someone who loves the gift. – Shauna Niequist
Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. – Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer
The sun is but a morning star. ~Henry David Thoreau
Another shot from Budle Bay, this one is taken up from the top of the hill so I had a good view across the bay, isn’t the sky fantastic. You can see the rain on the horizon but it went out to sea…
I shot these two images this summer and thought I would share them with you. The first is an image taken on Bamburgh Beach with the Farne Islands in the distance. It took this shot as I was interested in the layers in the rock and subsequently entitled it ‘Layer Cake’. I have simply adjusted the levels in Aperture.
The second image was shot while I had set off to walk around Derwentwater, one of my favourite walks (9 1/2 miles). The weather again was fantastic but a little hazy so I have added a soft graduated filter to the top of the image to bring back the colour in Nik’s Colour Efex Pro 3.
