I want to share with you that I am visiting Stockholm at the end of the summer. The highlight of this trip will be a visit to the Fotografiska, housed in a huge Art Nouveau building on the edge of the super cool Sodermalm district. The New National Museum of Photography opened in 2010, quickly becoming Scandinavia’s, indeed the world’s foremost centre for contemporary photography. The views from the restaurant on the top floor are reputed to have the best views across the archipelago. I need to fit in visits to the National Museum of Art (which is currently closed for major renovations until June 2013), a trip to see the Viking Ship at Vasamuseet, a boat trip around the archipelago, a quick nip at the Ice Bar and of course some early morning photography shoots, so I have a lot to cram into my four days. Isn’t the best think about travel, the researching, the planning and the anticipation.
Things Stockholm has given us include ABBA, Ingrid Bergman, Alfred Nobel (of the Prize), Carl Larsson (artist), IKEA, Absolut Vodka, Volvos and not forgetting the beautiful actor Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood) and his actor father Stellan Skarsgard.
While I am on the subject of lovely and inspiring swedes, I would like to share with you a link to the blog of Benita Larrson, Chez Larrson. This is a blog I have followed for years and love her sense of style, her photography, her two cats Mini & Bonus and love to hear about her life (and decorating) in Stockholm.
You will find great photo ops in Stockholm!
Hello, I would love to hear if you have visited ?
Back in ’99 for a week. Even got out to Gripsholm Castle, totally worth the short train ride. So much to see, hope to get back someday.
